This weekend, two of our finest singers competed in Midland for the state finals    They have been competing since September for a spot in one of the prestigious and coveted Texas All State Choirs.  TMEA choirs are the best in the nation, as its competition is designed to ensure the very best are chosen to sing in their choirs. All 5 regions learned 9 difficult songs in German, English and Latin over the course of 4 auditions, and were narrowed down to the top 34 singers in the state in each section.  From there, only 7 from each section are chosen to perform in the Small School Texas All State Choir (other areas of the state will add 13 more in each section).
Gabby Papp and snagged 15th out of 34 of these finalists.  She is making significant progress in each audition, including last year.  She is such a blessing to our choir at SJCA.
Matthew Turner competed against 34 of the best tenors in our area; not only did he make the Texas All-State Choir, but he received the prestigious honor of first chair!
Congratulations Matthew! & Gabby, we are extremely proud of both of you!
