The thirty members of the Class of 2017 experienced a wonderful graduation ceremony at The Church at Quail Creek on the afternoon of May 27th. The six members of the senior praise band opened the service with three moving worship songs that set the tone for a God-centered time of celebration of this talented class, whom class Salutatorian, Delaney Needham, described with one word as “loud.” Valedictorian, Kate Tyson, expressed thankfulness for an administration and staff that helped them focus on more than academics, but on their spiritual lives as they prepare to be light bearers to the world.

The Commencement speaker, former SJCA Bible teacher Nick Garner, exhorted the class not to trust their hearts, but to trust instead in the reliable principles of the inerrant Word of God, and to truly know themselves through their identity in Christ.

Many seniors were awarded scholarships from the school based on character, service, and leadership, and then all thirty walked the stage to receive their hard-earned diplomas, being congratulated by Principal Dennis Smith, Superintendent Randy Down, and the SJCA Board of Trustees.

Afterward, the venue shifted back to the Rehrer Center, where senior tables were on display, and friends and family ate delicious hors d’oeuvres prepared and hosted by parents of the junior class. The guests spent time congratulating graduates while looking over the handsomely decorated tables of the Class of 2017.

We wish this talented class God’s best as they embark on many new journeys and adventures, but they will always have a home with a warm welcome anytime they visit at San Jacinto Christian Academy!
